Mounting the Pistol Grip Ball Head to a Tripod
Mount the head on a tripod by attaching its base to the 3/8” (A)
male thread of the tripod. Tighten it until it is firmly secure to the
tripod.
Removing the Quick-Release (QR) Camera Plate from
the Pistol Grip Ball Head
To remove the QR Plate from the head, pull out the safety lock (F)
(D) until it clicks into the unlock position (approximately 90-de-
grees). Then pull the locking lever away from the head until it (E)
clicks open and the plate pops out.
Attaching the Camera to the Quick-Release (QR) Plate
After removing the QR plate from the head, you can attach the
camera to the QR plate by inserting the 1/4”-20 male mount into (G)
the camera’s base and, using the pop-up handle on the under-side
of the plate, screw it into place. Before fully tightening the mount, be
sure that the camera is facing forward (see arrow pointing in the
direction of the lens on the bottom of the plate) and is parallel to the
plate. When fully tightened, replace pop-up handle flat against the
plate.
Mounting the Camera to the Pistol Grip Ball Head
With the camera facing forward, insert the QR plate under the front
lip on top of the head and push down on the camera until the
locking lever clicks into the locked position, securing the plate in
place. Make sure the plate is locked in place by returning the safety
lock to its locked position.
Removing the Camera from the Head
Release the safety lock and, while holding the camera securely in
one hand, rotate the locking lever away from the head until the plate
pops up and is released from the head.
Adjusting the Friction of the Head
The friction of the head can be adjusted to accommodate cameras
of different weights and sizes. The primary adjustment is done with
the turning wheel . To tightened the frictions, turn the wheel in the (I)
direction of the “+” symbol. To loosen the friction, turn the wheel in
the direction of the “-” symbol. A red indicator located in a slot (C)
on the rear of the head tells you the friction setting. When the
indicator is at the top of the slot, the tension is set for the least
amount of friction. When the indicator is at the bottom of the slot,
the tension is set for the most amount of friction. For further
fine-tuning, you may use the supplied hex key to adjust the set screw
(B). Turn it clockwise (right) to increase tension or counterclockwise
(left) to lessen the tension.
Using the Pistol Grip Ball Head
The advantage of the Pistol Grip Ball Head is that there is only one
locking lever that releases or locks all movements of the head. (H)
Simply squeeze the lever against the body of the head to release the
lock and reposition your camera. For your convenience, the Pistol
Grip Ball Head features two spirit levels that make it effortless to (J)
level your camera. By unlocking the head, you can make adjust-
ments up to approximately 45-degrees in any direction. By using the
slot (see photo 3 & 4), you can make adjustment up to 90-degrees.
